Google Celebrates Nigerias 53rd with a Doodle

Google Celebrates Nigeria’s 53rd with a Doodle

Google celebrated the country’s 50th anniversary of independence with a Doodle in 2010. Today, October 1, 2013 is Nigeria’s 53rd Independence Anniversary Day. She gained independence on the 1st of October 1960. This is the second doodle for Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary to be released by Google since October 2010.

Google has a new doodle to celebrate with Nigerians on its local domain at Google.com.ng.  It featured  the beautiful colours of the Nigerian flag, green and white, with a touch of different shades of green and grey patterned like a Nigerian (native) fabric popularly sewn and worn by some Nigerian ethnic groups.

Google has regularly used its Doodle in recent months to celebrate important African dates and events. In March Google also celebrated the birthday of Miriam Makeba, known as Mama Africa of South Africa, Google also used a doodle on its Kenya domain as citizens across the country voted in March general election. PING! Magazine thinks this year’s doodle features a more beautiful image of Nigeria with better design and creativity than last year. What do you think? Special thanks to Google for celebrating Nigeria and with Nigerians. As the celebration of Nigeria’s independence rents the air, the PING! Magazine family joins the celebration train with 53 hearty cheers to Nigeria.
