1. SPARK raises $2 million investment


Sparks is an internet groups of companies that builds companies in Nigeria, Africa and globally. The company started out with $1 Million fund but have just gain another $2 million from a pool of 17 international high net individual investors.

2. Facebook & PayPal teaming up to test mobile service


Facebook is looking to add the payment feature to their mobile app.  They are planning to test a mobile – payment service that will allow consumers to pay for products via just their Facebook credentials. They will be teaming up with PayPal to make the credit card and billing info go through Pay Pal.

3. Western Union expands mobile banking across  Africa


While Western Union has 27,000 physical agent locations spread across 50 countries. It still aims to growing its mobile banking function in Africa, by focusing on its expanding digital transaction channels. They plan to integrate additional mobile networks and increase the use of prepaid cards when customers receive money.

4. Jumia Nigeria drives child education with 1 Child, 1 Book initiative


Jumia Nigeria as teamed up with the Tosin Jegede Foundation to promote the 1Child, 1 Book initiative.  They want to encourage children reading in Lagos State by making the books readily available to the pupils.
