Google Translate adds more African languages

Google Translate adds more African languages

We all know translators have always been helpful, think about it. Remember your school days? Trying to do your French homework and you just don’t get it, and then you remember the almighty Google translator.

If you speak any of the following languages such as Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Somalia and Zulu —you guessed it right —- Yes! PING! Magazine’s got great news for you. Google translator will soon be at your service for those of you that struggle with your native language and for those who want to learn these languages.

This is great news for tourists, business people, and people that generally have an interest in languages. For businessmen and women travelling to Nigeria, Somalia or South Africa for any reason, now is the time to seal the business with this new addition to the world of Google translation.

So to seal the smile on many of your face, take a look at what we found on google Africa’s Google +page

https://plus.google.com/u/0/+GoogleAfrica/posts/F7U4zxy3Fwt

It says “Hello Africa, we need your help with evaluating translation quality for some of our ‘promising’ African languages,”

Awesome stuff Google (J)

I’m pretty sure you are thinking “Great!” “So what’s next?” Well now they are looking for volunteers (that’s if you speak any of the languages) to rate the accuracy of their current machine translation.

However if do you wish to volunteer or get involved visit the page, it directs you to another page where you are asked to rate an existing translation from English to the language concerned on a scale ranging from “poor” to “ excellent”.

We think this will benefit a lot people out there. Most people often say “I wish Google could translate my language”. We guess Google has finally granted that wish. Now all you need to do is help them get it right and you’re all done. (J)
