Apple"s New Campus Cupertino

Apple’s New Campus Cupertino

The Apple Campus 2 project has been there in the talks since 2006, when Late Steve Jobs made the Cupertino City Council take a note of the buildings that Apple had acquired to materialize its dream of building another campus, just a mile away from the very first Apple Campus, in Cupertino. The campus was supposed to be built by 2015, but now it is expected to open not any time before 2016.

The story began when Texas-based real estate fir Hines Interests began a shopping spree, of properties in Cupertino, for Apple. The sellers, at the time, didn’t know about Apple being the real buyer. Apple’s name was hidden, due to the very fact that it’d, for sure, urge the sellers to sell their properties at an all-time higher rate!

Apple

Apple Campus 2 is going to be one of the best company-campuses in the world, in the coming time, if everything that the management claims is achieved. The proposed, 175 acres, campus will have 4-storeyed circular ‘spaceship’ architecture building to house about 13000 of its technocrats, a café with a seating capacity of 3000 people, an auditorium that will be able to house about 1000 people, and an area of 28000m2 will remain dedicated to an R&D structure. Apart from this, regular aspects of the campus will include an orchard, a fitness center, a renewable power plant, etc.

Although the cost of the project is estimated at a whopping $5billion, Apple Campus 2 in Cupertino is bound to attract thousands of Apple and non-Apple employees!

Apple Air-PING

iPad Air

As Apple says “Desktop class architecture, No desktop required”, this slim trim version of the iPad catches your attention with its sleek and neat design. It is now 0.44 pounds lighter, i.e. weighs just a pound, and is ~2mm thinner, than its predecessor.

On the performance front, Apple makes sure it doesn’t have to take its words back, thus makes iPad Air a hardcore performer, by powering it with the new A7 chip, driven by a 64-bit architecture.

The Wi-Fi variant has a starting price of 499$ on the Apple store, while the Wi-Fi+Cellular variant starts from 629$.

The 5MP main & 1.2 MP front cameras are exceptional as always.

iPad Mini, with Retina Display

The latest variant in the ‘mini’-series is the brand new iPad mini, bundled with a Retina display.

The 7.9 inch screen of this device looks amazing, and boasts the 2048 x 1536 resolution very brilliantly. The pixel density has been elevated to a whopping 326 pixels per inch, which makes the display even more crisp and vibrant. This can also be looked in this way that the 3.1 million pixels of a 9.7 inch iPad have been embedded in a 7.9-inch screen size!

Apart from all the connectivity features, this variant is, also, powered by an A7 processor, thus enhancing the computing possibilities.

Similar to the Air, iPad mini also has 5MP & 1.2 MP cameras.

The iPad mini has a starting price of 399$ for the Wi-Fi variant.

iTUNES - A DECADE OF MUSIC HISTORY

iTUNES – A DECADE OF MUSIC HISTORY

Is iTunes really 10 years old? It doesn’t seem like it. It feels like is been around since the 90’s owing to the fact that it has changed the way we buy music and also made music history as the first site to allow music to be downloaded digitally.

itunes-year-end-charts

With iTunes been the number 1 largest music retailer in the world with its business having an income of $4.1bn {£2.6bn} last year. Let’s rewind and see how they got here.

  • April 28 2003- iTunes is launched after years of developing hardware and software and being brave by getting the 5 big music companies to partner with them even after what Hunter S. Thompson’s famous quote about the music industry, that said “The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs”.

  • Then just a week of being out in the US the iTunes store sold over 1m songs.

  • September 2003- songs downloads hit the 10 million mark.

  • 16 October 2003- iTunes available on windows.

  • March 2004- 5 million song is downloaded on iTunes

  • June 2004 iTunes launched in the UK with 450,000 tracks downloaded in the first week.

  • July 2004- Kevin Britten, downloader of 100 millionth iTunes songs wins a PowerBook, iPod and a voucher for 10,000 more tunes.

  • August 2004- over a 100 million songs available in the store

  • April 17 2005- its sales and downloads were combined in the official  Top 40 for the first time with Amarillo by Tony Christie featuring Peter Kay at No.1

  • April 2006- Crazy by Gnarls Barkley was the first song on the top U.K charts on downloads alone.

  • Now April 2013 it has grown from only having 200,000 songs in the catalogue to 35 million

  • It has 15,000 songs downloaded every minute and it reached its 25 billion songs benign downloaded this February.

  • Available now in 119 countries with more than 435 million registered users (this makes it one of the world’s five largest holders of credit card details.)

Great work iTunes, its been ten years of undiluted sound. Let the music play on.

Apple ships new high and low-end models of iPhone

Apple ships new high-end and low-end models of iPhone in early September.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Apple will be shipping new high-end and low-end models of the iPhone in early September. The latest buzz surrounding the iPhone 5S is that Apple will release a gold version alongside the traditional black and white colors. AllThingsD reported earlier this month that Apple will unveil the next-generation iPhone at an event on September 10th.

The WSJ did not go into specifics about what we’ll see from new iPhones; speculations however say it’s likely that we’ll get the iPhone 5S, which would follow in the footsteps of the iPhone 5 with a metal body similar to the previous design as well as an iPhone 5C with a rear plastic case in multiple colors.

The shipping plans suggest that two new iPhone models could be launched as soon as next month, pointing to a strategy shift as Apple attempts to regain its momentum in the smartphone market. The company hasn’t previously announced different iPhone models around the same time.

Suppliers first began preparing components back in June, according to the paper’s sources. The cheaper iPhone is expected to be dubbed the iPhone 5C and come with several color choices. A ship date of later in September would also be in keeping with the timing of previous iPhone launches, where hardware typically hits consumer shelves a maximum of two weeks after the announcement.

The activity adds to Apple’s challenges. The company has been facing tough competition from Samsung and other firms making smartphones based on Google Inc.’s Android software. A perception that Apple’s pace of innovation has slowed, along with some uncharacteristic missteps by the company, helped push the company’s shares down more than 40% in the span of six months from all-time highs of more than $700 in September. The company’s shares have since rebounded somewhat, currently at $509.66, up 1.5%.
